The Finnish NORDIS partner and fact-checking organisation Faktabaari will host Faktabaari Forum 2026 on 1 April 2026, bringing together experts, journalists, educators and technology specialists to discuss how societies can strengthen information resilience as artificial intelligence and algorithm-driven platforms reshape the public information environment.
The event will take place as a hybrid conference at the Merkki Museum in Helsinki, with an online livestream available for registered participants.
The forum focuses on the growing challenges facing democratic societies as the digital information environment becomes increasingly complex. Disinformation campaigns, algorithmic amplification and AI-generated content are placing pressure on institutions that traditionally support information integrity – including journalism, education systems, research institutions and public authorities.
During the forum, Faktabaari and its partners will present their work on strengthening information resilience and digital information literacy, including initiatives within the organisation’s PRO, EDU, LAB and FORUM programmes. Speakers will explore how artificial intelligence can both challenge and support democratic societies, how citizens can build stronger media literacy skills, and how open data, technology and fact-checking expertise can work together to counter information disorder.
The programme includes keynote presentations, short expert interventions and panel discussions addressing topics such as AI-driven disinformation, the role of digital education, regional knowledge networks and the development of new tools for identifying reliable information sources. Discussions will also examine how Nordic societies can prepare for future elections and strengthen public trust in the digital information ecosystem.
Faktabaari Forum also marks more than a decade of work by Faktabaari to promote fact-based public debate in Finland, bringing together stakeholders from across media, academia, civil society and the technology sector.
The event is open to anyone interested in strengthening democratic resilience and information integrity.
